A sex-positive podcast by UK based African singer songwriter, Lorraine Lionheart
An explosive no filter sex-positive podcast by Lorraine Lionheart, launched on the first day of the month of love – February 2018.
“The world of sex is full of untold truths, assumptions, myths, confusion and frustrations. These affect our lives by causing us to lose an important sense of connectedness with our bodies and our sexuality. Talking about sex is just as important as having it.
Sex in some way or another is something so many people have in common and tackling the stigma of talking openly about it can bring people together”, said Lorraine Lionheart.
The UK-based Botswana artiste created a sex-positive podcast TASSO. The name is an abbreviation for The African Sex Show Online. The singer aims to engage mostly the African online community all around the world. The podcast will specialise in topics about sex and sexuality in black communities and the singer says she specifically targeted this demographic because she recognises that sex is still a taboo subject among people of colour. The podcast also aims to bring an insight on how sex relates to African spirituality, religion, our culture, history and black consciousness.
“I love sex. Its that simple. I am passionate about sex education, and I have always been the awkward one amongst my friends who talks more openly about sex and often made people uncomfortable. This is nothing new to me, I am just taking something I do on a daily basis with a small group of people, and sharing it on a larger scale because I feel it is necessary. We are all sex educators. Even if you have only ever had one sexual experience or none at all, your story is vital and there is always someone who needs to hear it , for very positive reasons.”
The podcast will cover a wide range of topics; the good, the bad, and exploring fascinating perspectives where nothing is a taboo and there is something for everyone. For each episode the host will interview a variety of people from all walks of life, including those with religious views on the subject of sex and individuals from medical backgrounds; traditional, spiritual, herbal and modern. Leading by example, the host shares her own personal experiences, with aim to open a more relaxed light-hearted dialogue and encourage honest conversations on sex, sexuality, relationships and everything in between.
The first episode of Tasso was exclusively about sex dolls, something she felt would be a good icebreaker since many Africans are currently talking about sex dolls. The Podcast is quickly gaining a lot of interest and impressive following and promises to continue breaking ground for years to come, spearheading and spreading the sex positive message.
“As an entertainer I understand the importance of delivering a message through fun, so, some of the episodes are comedy charged and perhaps seemingly a lot more entertaining than educational, as i even have a number of comedians interested in becoming regular contributors to the show. Episodes can be funny, light-hearted and amusing, but will always be serious, approached with compassion and thoughtful when the situation calls for it. I believe a fresh and funny look into the deeper and darker questions about sex and sexuality is needed.”
The podcast is not be suitable for anyone under the age of 18.
Tasso Podcast is available on iTunes and other streaming services providers such as Spotify and Soundcloud. More information and links to the podcast are also made available through Lorraine Lionheart’s social media platforms and here at : tassopodcast.com
